So, for the past few days, we haven’t been able to get away from all the news and buzz that has surrounded the Beyonce project that was seemingly shrouded in an impenetrable cloak of secrecy and was released to the world like a bat out of hell, much to the delight of her legions of fans, and probably her haters too. I’ve been getting a ton of feedback saying that the album is amazing, though it’s still pretty early to tell honestly. But, there are a few things that Bey has to be commended for: hear realization of her power and influence, her knowledge of her fans, and the impact that this project is sure to have culturally and musically. I even saw a report on the Melissa Harris Perry show talking distinctly about how this was such a power move and how Beyonce has used this visual album as a platform to talk about social issues pertaining to feminism, the idea of beauty and much more. I gotta say…overall, well played, Bey. Well played.
