De La Soul “Get Away” Feat. The Spirit Of Wu Tang

I can’t even remember the last time I heard some new music from De La Soul, but the truth is they’ve been long overdue for it and the game might just need a good, solid word from some elder statesmen who have a lot of clout, respect and stock, as well as a resume that is rivaled by few, if any, of today’s emcees. “Get Away” is an interesting mix of traditional De La boom bap drums from some of their later work (they remind me a lot of much of the music that was heard on The Grind Date), and a sample of the intro from disc 2 of Wu Tang Forever. Even “The Spirit of Wu Tang” is credited with a feature on the song, proving further why there aren’t many today that can compare to De La. Pretty nice return to form for the leaders of the D.A.I.S.Y. Age.
