(AllHipHop News) The country’s Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) members are set to host their “For the People” (#VoteReady) Voter Protection Events on National Voter Registration Day today (September 25) in cities nationwide.
Today, the CBC and countless other organizations and interest groups are hosting voter engagement and registration rallies across the country to make a last ditch effort to register as many voters as possible prior to the 2012 Election.
For the CBC, the primary voter challenge in 2012 comes down to citizens having the proper ID to prove their identities when they report to polling places in November. Recent voter ID laws have been met with protest and controversy in states such as Pennsylvania, where opponents say that requiring IDs or proof of citizenship to vote automatically disenfranchises potential participants such as the elderly, some minorities, and former correctional inmates.
